Does God Have Hold of Your Heart?

Does the world seem to be losing its direction?  So much anger and people acting out against others to right a wrong or prove they are correct.  Is it not written, "If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.  Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth" (Colossians 3:1-2).

Does it not seem like we are all guilty of loving things of this world too much?  None of these things has lasting value except for the people God has put in each of our lives! Those people have true eternal value so much so that God was willing to sacrifice His only Son to redeem anyone who truly accepts Jesus into their life!

Of all the things we could hope for in our future, can you think of anything more important than securing a place in heaven for yourself and those you love?  Allowing satan to rule our hearts takes us away from things above and replaces it with things here on earth.   Jesus explained, very clearly, what things are truly important.  He said that the two great commandments were: "And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the first commandment. And the second is this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these." (Mark 12:30-31)  Love God and love your neighbor!  Those two things are to be our focus in life.  If we choose to make other things the focus, we are heading down the wrong path and need to consider again what Jesus asked of us.

Let's start now to live the life Christ asked us to.  Replace time wasted doing things that have no eternal value with getting to know the Lord better.  Study the Bible and let God's Word reveal to you the foundation we all need to truly love and understand Him.  Let’s reject the desire to make everything about us and, instead, show love to everyone who God puts in our path today as Jesus asked us to do.  Let's start today to allow God's love to flow through us into everyone we meet!  Everyone -- even those that we might find it difficult to do this for!

Will you let God have hold of your heart?
